Code of Ethics

Certible is a certification body dedicated to fairness, impartiality, and excellence in certifying professionals across a range of IT-related disciplines. This Code of Ethics sets out the principles and standards that Certible commits to upholding in the delivery of its certification services. In this document, “we” refers to Certible, its top management, and its personnel (including employees, committee members, and contractors acting on Certible’s behalf). Complementary commitments made by certified persons and training partners are set out separately below. Adherence to these principles ensures that certification contributes to the betterment of the profession, safeguards the rights and well-being of individuals and organisations, supports efforts to protect the environment, and upholds the fundamental human rights of all individuals.

Ethical Conduct and Professional Integrity

We maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity in all professional activities. We act with due diligence, objectivity, and fairness, and avoid any conduct that could bring discredit to the profession or to Certible’s certification programs.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

We comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards relevant to our professional activities. We respect intellectual property rights and do not engage in any unlawful or unauthorised activity, nor in any activity that could compromise the security, privacy, or integrity of systems, data, or individuals.

Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality

We respect and safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of individuals and organisations, handling sensitive information (including personal data, trade secrets, and proprietary information) responsibly. We comply with applicable data protection law, notably the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and implement appropriate safeguards against unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse of confidential information.

Responsible Use of Knowledge and Skills

We use our professional knowledge and skills responsibly, for the benefit of society and the advancement of the profession. We do not engage in activities that could intentionally cause harm, damage, or disruption to systems, networks, or individuals, and we reject the use of expertise for malicious purposes, such as the development or deployment of malware, the conduct of cyber-attacks, or the compromise of the security and integrity of information systems.

Commitment to Professional Development

We continue to develop our knowledge and skills, keeping up with developments, best practices, and ethical considerations in our field. We maintain awareness of relevant laws, regulations, and standards so that our work remains responsible, current, and effective.

Respect for Diversity and Inclusion

We respect and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession and the broader community. We treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or any other personal characteristic, and we support an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and collaboration.

Management of Conflicts of Interest

We disclose any potential conflicts of interest in our professional activities and take appropriate measures to address them transparently. We act impartially and avoid situations in which personal interests could compromise professional integrity or the interests of candidates, clients, or employers.

Commitment to Impartiality

We are committed to impartiality in all certification activities, ensuring fairness and objectivity for every applicant and certified person. Top management actively supports this commitment. Conflicts of interest are identified, documented, and mitigated, and our processes are designed to prevent undue influence so that trust in our certifications is maintained. See our Impartiality Statement for further detail.

Environmental Responsibility

We give weight to environmental responsibility in our professional activities and actively contribute to reducing the environmental footprint of the IT industry. We are committed to:

Human Rights and Non-Discrimination

We respect and uphold the fundamental human rights of all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or any other personal characteristic. We actively promote inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunity within the profession and wider society. We are committed to:

Reporting Ethical Violations and Concerns

We report observed or suspected ethical violations, misconduct, unlawful activity, environmental concerns, or human rights issues relating to our professional activities to the appropriate authority or governing body. We cooperate with investigations and provide truthful and accurate information, in order to uphold the integrity of the profession, to protect the public interest, and to safeguard the fundamental rights and dignity of all individuals.

Concerns regarding Certible, its personnel, or the conduct of certification activities may be raised through our complaint handling process or by email to compliance@certible.com. Good-faith reports are handled confidentially and without retaliation.

Commitments of Certified Persons

By accepting a Certible certification, certified persons undertake to uphold the principles set out above in their own professional conduct — including ethical conduct and integrity, compliance with applicable laws, responsible use of knowledge and skills, protection of privacy and confidentiality, continuing professional development, respect for diversity and inclusion, transparent management of conflicts of interest, environmental responsibility, respect for human rights, and the reporting of ethical violations.

In addition, certified persons undertake to use Certible certificates, logos, and marks only in the manner and within the scope for which certification was granted. This includes making accurate claims about certification status, avoiding any use that could bring Certible or a scheme owner into disrepute, ceasing use of the certificate, logo, or mark upon suspension or withdrawal of certification, and not otherwise misusing certification.

Failure to adhere to these principles (including disregard for human rights or environmental responsibility) may result in corrective measures, up to and including suspension or withdrawal of certification, in accordance with our Conditions of Certification.

Commitments of Training Partners

By entering into a training partnership with Certible, training providers undertake, in the conduct of their training activities connected with Certible certifications, to:

Failure to adhere to these principles may result in suspension or withdrawal of the training partnership.
