Recording of ISTQB remote exams

The ISTQB has set a regulation for remote-proctored exams: all exam providers are required to record exam sessions.

The ISTQB has set this rule, which applies to all ISTQB exam providers worldwide, including Certible. Certible does not currently record exam sessions for any other certification program and has no plans to do so.

Under what circumstances will recordings be reviewed?

The decision to require the recording of ISTQB exams was justified by two potential cases. In both cases recordings will only be reviewed in case of an appeal or complaint by the candidate.

  1. Accusations of cheating or other breaches to exam regulations.

  2. A complaint by a candidate about the proctor’s behaviour during the exam.

Who will recordings be shared with?

Nobody at all. Recordings will be processed and stored exclusively by Certible, and will not be shared with any third parties.

When will recordings be accessed and by whom?

Never, unless the candidate submits an appeal or complaint within the appeals period. Recordings will only be reviewed by authorized Certible personnel in case of a complaint or appeal by the candidate.

How long will recordings be stored?

Recordings will be stored for the duration of the period for appeals and deleted after this has elapsed.

Optionally, recordings can be deleted immediately following the exam, if the candidate contacts us and waives their rights of appeal and complaint based on the recording.
